Tomer (37) is a software engineer who works at the “Alta” defense plant, lives in Gan Yavne, and at first glance appears to be a completely average person, especially given his senior position in the necessary plant. Last week T was captured by the group “Caught red-handed,” which is led by the known pedophile hunter Avi Dubitzky when he came to meet a 13-and-a-half-year-old boy from Ashkelon equipped with massage oil. In a conversation with the boy on WhatsApp, Tomer said: “We’ll talk, we’ll sit next to each other, you can watch a porn video on your phone, you can even do more than that, have fun, touch and that…”. The Ashkelon police arrested T, and now an investigation is being conducted to see if he hurt other children in the past. His detention was extended, and unfortunately, the court does not allow the publication of his name and picture at this stage. So parents, take care of your children!
It’s a scary and disturbing story, which explains to us that even the most normal (at first glance) person around us, one who holds a senior position with a handsome salary, can be a walking monster. This is the story of T., a 37-year-old bachelor who lives in Gan Yavne. He works at the “Alta” defense plant as a software engineer, and if he passed the strict “Alta” security check, it is clear that he has no criminal record and is a person who should be completely normal.
It turns out that T is light-years away from that. This is a dangerous man, who was recorded on a video camera admitting that he came to meet a 13-and-a-half-year-old boy, to have a sexual act with him. There is no other interpretation of what he said, and it was revealed thanks to the holy work carried out by the group “Caught in the Wild”, whose entire role is to locate and expose pedophiles throughout the country. You can find this group on Facebook, thus identifying if a pedophile is living near us.
One way or another, T came all excited to meet the 13-and-a-half-year-old boy at the entrance to an old building in Ashkelon and was amazed to see the boy’s mother in front of him, accompanied by two representatives of the group “Caught red-handed”, which is led by the pedophile hunter Avi Dubitzky.
The upset mother had a long conversation with T. to understand what made him correspond with her son through WhatsApp, in a conversation that included disgusting sexual descriptions. “I know why you came, and you know why you came, come share your deviations with me,” said the mother as she tried to keep her composure. T admitted at the very beginning of the conversation that he had indeed come to meet the boy after they had corresponded several times on WhatsApp. “I had no plans for this meeting, I came to talk and meet, I don’t plan, this is the first time I’m meeting with him,” he said with a trembling voice.
T added and said: “Obviously it doesn’t make sense that a 37-year-old man comes to meet a 13-and-a-half-year-old boy, it’s not right, I broke the law by talking to him, but I didn’t do anything. He was on a dating site and talked to me freely, he also told me that I’m 13 and a half years old, and that’s where I made a mistake. I did a stupid and bad thing, I have to live with it. I was in a relationship with a 16-year-old boy before, there’s something attractive about young people, I did sexual things with a 16-year-old boy. I’m not aggressive, if the boy didn’t want anything, I would just talk, drink something and leave, he would show me his coin collection and leave.”
At this stage, T was asked to take out the things he had in his bag and showed him massage oil, which betrays his intention in the meeting. “We talked about all kinds of things, and the boy told me that he was afraid of diseases if we did something, I told him that he had nothing to be afraid of. If he were going to have sex, I wouldn’t object to sexual contact but not full, giving him a massage and touching him.”
In the conversation he had with the boy on WhatsApp, T said clearly: “We’ll talk, sit next to each other, you can watch a porn video on your phone, you can do more than that, have fun, touches and that…”. At this point, police officers from the Ashkelon police arrived at the scene and took T for a long interrogation.
Avi Dubitzky began his activity as a pedophile and alleged sex offender catcher as early as July 2013. The operation pattern was more or less regular: Dubitzky entered chat rooms on sites such as Walla, Nana, Tapuz, and Atraf, which announced a ban on entry for minors, but in practice, they cannot enforce him. He used to present himself as a minor and tried to fish for adults. After he managed to start a conversation of a sexual nature with one of the participants, in most cases, he wanted to continue it through more private channels, on WhatsApp or SMS. In the end, after the two parties agreed to meet, Dubitzky called the police hotline and reported a meeting that was going to take place between a pedophile and a minor. When that person arrived at the encounter scene, he did not find a boy or a girl there, but a police car and Avi Dubitzky won a nice bonus for him by photographing the arrest and uploading it to his Facebook and YouTube pages.
Dubitzky’s modus operandi gave rise to no less than 500 complaints to the police over the years, all of which he filed himself. However, from our investigation, it turns out that only 40 of them have so far matured into an indictment; most of them concern sex offenders with previous convictions and those who were on probation. At the same time, an investigation that previously existed on the “Mako” website revealed a series of testimonies from people that the investigation file opened against them following Dubitzky’s complaints was closed due to lack of evidence (or that the investigation has been going on for months without an indictment being filed against them). They angrily claim that Dubitzky destroyed their lives. The interviewees, all people with no criminal record, also claim that Dubitzky was the one who persuaded them to meet and led to their arrest through illegal, sometimes even criminal, means. Finally, some filed defamation lawsuits or police complaints against him. No one was able to provide any proof backing up these claims.
Dubitzky left the country in 2014 for the United States, as he felt that his essential work was not receiving cooperation from the law enforcement authorities. Beyond that, he realized that his actions could cause him enormous financial damage due to those lawsuits filed against him. At some point, Dubitzky returned to Israel and decided to continue his essential activity, and thanks to him, hundreds of dangerous pedophiles have been located in recent years. In 2019 the Israeli Supreme Court dismissed all pending litigation against Avi Dubitzky, and no one in Israel can collect any Judgments.
So an average person, after he gets caught like this, gets fired from his job, is shunned by his family, and has to leave his community, would learn his lesson? Right? Wrong!
